Realization Rate

Agency glossary · Updated July 2026

Definition

Realization rate is the effective hourly rate expressed as a percentage of the rate you quoted, showing how much of your intended price you actually captured. A realization below 100% means scope creep, write-offs, or over-servicing ate into the price.

FormulaEffective hourly rate / quoted rate x 100

Why it matters

Realization turns the effective-rate idea into a clean percentage you can track per client and per service line. A steady, high realization means your quotes hold up in reality, which is what lets you scale without margin collapse.

Benchmark

Aim to hold realization around 85 to 90% or higher. Below roughly 85%, pricing or delivery is leaking.
